Considering how bad the weather was

Considering how bad the Bank Holiday Weekends weather was, I was surprised by the number of good photographs I ended up capturing, I was quite please I ended up with 260 mixed bag of good shots (excluding duplicates of same capture), 130 of which were squirrel shots for my project.

Yesterday in the drizzly rain I got some fab White Squirrels captures [CLICK HERE to view some of the captures], which just goes to show you it's worth going out even when the weather sucks and you think it's going to be hopeless.

The capture below is one taken yesterday on way back to car after I'd finished shooting the squirrels. I saw some pine cones on the ground and just went for a quick capture with lens I had been shooting the squirrels with. The images is straight off camera, no effects, just pure E-P3 camera bokeh using the Olympus 45mm prime lens set at F1.8. It's not a macro lens either!

Who needs a Lensbay! lol

A bigger and healthier White Squirrel

It's been the usual wet bank holiday weekend, but I still got quite a few photos of the White Squirrel.  I've managed to encourage him up on to the cut tree stump I used as a feeding table.
He is looking a lot healthier and bigger than when I first saw him last year, which I pleased about as he looked very feeble when I first saw him.

Here are a few pictures of him taken on Sunday I posted on Flickr:.

Natural HDR photograph of Margate Harbour

Some days the light quality is just so good you can capture images that look like HRD without needing to do much in Photoshop - I call this light quality "Natural HDR".

Parakeet in flight

I've been trying to capture a Parakeet in flight since 2002 - but  March 28 was my lucky day.

I was on way to the house to get a coffee and saw them land in the tree a couple of gardens away, so rush back in the office grabbed my camera and as I was burst firing one sitting in the tree he took flight.

I couldn't believe it when I looked and I'd not only got him but he was nice and sharp!
I was well impressed how good a job my Olympus E-P3 had done, considering I handheld fired using a 300mm (600mm 35 equivalent).

Olympus you ROCK!! This camera is so good!
